EL is among 10 Detroit media, biz, sports and political figures who responded to local reporter Bill Shea’s request for holiday book recommendations . . . or current reading titles.

The legendary Detroit author last month finished writing his latest book, a modern pirate thriller called Djibouti that he expects to see published in the spring. Right now, he’s reading Spooner, new witty-tragic novel by Pete Dexter.

He’s also reading the manuscript for In the Place of Justice: A Story of Punishment and Deliverance by Wilbert Rideau. It’s Rideau’s prison memoir of 44 years behind bars for murder, his multiple trials and life as a prison journalist who won mainstream journalism awards.

I have it on good authority that Dutch is also reading a new novel, SOME OTHER DUDE DID IT, by Rolex Jones, and a short story collection called GATOR BAIT.
