Jimmy Cap has been in a lot of his books. I have been real busy and it has taken me awhile to get through Cat Chaser. Jimmy is in it.

Jimmy is in Get Shorty, Pronto, Gold Coast, Cat Chaser, and . . . ????? I am sure he is in a few more. Maximum Bob? Split Images?

Which book does Jimmy get whacked? Is it Pronto? I can’t remember. Doesn’t he get killed by some moron underling?

Sharon Stone says “what are you gonna do, arrest me for smoking?” in the cop shop in “Basic Instinct” That line of dialogue was stolen from the mouth of Jackie Burke in “Rum Punch”, and it would have sounded a lot cooler coming from Pam Grier .

In SWAG, Stick—referring to a gun—tells a black guy, “Turn around…and let’s see your arm. Throw it down there as far as you can.”

In STICK, Stick overhears Kyle & Barry talk about investing in Ranco Manufacturing.

Though it’s not mentioned in STICK, Ranco is Harry Mitchell’s company in 52 Pick-Up.

LACrimAtty,

Great touchstone with Stick/52 Pickup.

We haven’t had one for 52 Pickup.

Most of his books have been mentioned with touchstones.

How about Killshot or Touch?

An early scene in ‘Killshot’ (i think) features Walter Kouza talking to a young patrol cop called Gary Hammond - presumably the same Gary Hammond who has a large roll in ‘Maximum Bob’

This is all from Memory, i don’t have the relevant books at hand

I’m rereading the tour de force, GET SHORTY, and see Jimmy Capotoroto, one of the mobbed up guys, had been connected to Ed Grossi, a main character in GOLD COAST, whose job it was to administer Frank DiCilia’s will, especially the provision barring Karen DiCilia from ever getting laid again.

Along those same lines, Chili’s wife leaves him early in GET SHORTY. She believes leaving—but not divorcing—him will mean he can’t get laid again either.

In RUM PUNCH, Simone, one of Ordell’s three women, tells Louis Gara she used to hang out at Sportree’s in Detroit.

Sportree’s—and Sportree himself—figured prominently in SWAG. Frank Ryan and Stick walk in in the late afternoon and see cute secretaries drinking, prompting Frank to say, “hey, yeah.” That night, though, the secretaries are gone, replaced by an all black crowd, prompting Frank (if memory serves) to say something like “what is this shit?”

I might have that last part wrong, and if so, maybe someone with the book handy can correct me.

I might be wrong on this, too, but I think Sportrees Lounge was mentioned in UNKNOWN MAN #89.

Kathy Baker is a probation officer in Maximum Bob. In Rum Punch, early on, Max Cherry tells a defendant he doesn’t think Karen, his probation officer, will violate him if he surrenders.

I don’t think we ever get the last name of the Karen in Rum Punch, but it’s probably the Karen Baker.

Ordell & Louis, of Rum Punch & The Switch fame, also are mentioned in Gold Coast when Cal Maguire asks Andre Patterson why he isn’t tapping them—instead of him—for a revenge-motivated robbery at Deer Run Country Club.

Andre tells him Ordell & Louis were “away for a while.”
