Sportree’s Lounge is in Unknown Man #89. I am about half way through it. That is the Jack Ryan connection. I think Sportree mentions him in Swag.

In “The Big Bounce”, Jack Ryan tells Nancy about the days when he and his buddy, Leon Woody, would do a little B&E. In “Swag”, Leon Woody is Sportree’s partner in the Hudson Department store job. (He’s the guy who shoots Billy Ruiz in the stairwell.) When Leon first meets Frank Ryan in “Swag”, he mentions that he used to have a carpet cleaning business with a Jack Ryan.

Great job with the Swag/Jack Ryan connection.

Bo Catlett from “Get Shorty” changed his name from Antonio when he found out about his great, great grandfather being a U.S. Cavalryman.
“I changed my name from Antonio to Bo Catlett, left the camps for good and took off for Detroit to learn to be black.”

The original Bo Catlett was in Gunsights and the short, “Hurrah for Captain Early”. Was he in “Cuba Libre”? He is a great character.

Wasn’t Linda Moon in “Glitz” and “Be Cool”?

I just started Pagan Babies. The first chapter has a person wearing a Stone Coyotes shirt—ROCK WITH A TWANG. Another Linda Moon connection!

Robb,
You’re right about the Linda Moon connection in “Glitz” and “Be Cool”, although they are two different people.

Linda Moon from “Glitz” appears in a coversation between Linda and Chili in “Be Cool”. When Chili tells Linda that he doesn’t even know her real name, she tells him it’s Lingeman. Then goes on to explain how she was performing at a club in Miami called Churchill’s when a woman approached her…

“She wanted to tell me how much she liked my voice and that we had something in common. Her name was Linda and she used to sing professionally, mostly in casino lounges, one in Atlantic City, another in Puerto Rico. I asked if she used her real name and she said Yes, Linda Moon. As soon she said it I knew it was the name I wanted. I told her I loved the sound of it, Linda Moon, and she said, ‘Take it, I’m not using it anymore. I’ve got four kids at home, all boys, I’m Linda Mora now and my husband Vincent is with the Miami Beach Police.’”

As for Bo Catlett in “Cubre Libre”, I’m just starting it now, so I’ll let you know if he shows up.

Elvin Crowe from “Maximum Bob” had a brother Roland. Roland was killed in “Gold Coast.”

Is Sheriff Gene Givens from “Maximum Bob” related to Raylan Givens?

Earl Crowe is killed in “Pronto”. I am re-reading it. I am assuming he is related to the Crowes in “Gold Coast”, “Maximum Bob”, and “Riding The Rap”.

Dale Crowe JR is in “Riding The Rap” and “Maximum Bob”. He starts both books.

I am about the only one doing these.

“Maximum Bob” has one of my favorite Touchstones.

Elvin Crowe’s thoughts are about reading a western in prison. He is about to go into a hair salon when he thinks about the western and what happens in a barbershop. He is thinking about the first chapter in Mr. Leonard’s first novel, “The Bounty Hunters”.

Things turn out a lot different in “Maximum Bob”.

I’m reading the Switch and I thought that Ordell and Louis were from Rum Punch. I never read that one but I know it from Jackie Brown.

Speaking of, I just bought the Jackie Brown DVD and I noticed that there is a phone call to Ordell from someone named Junebug. Could this be the same Junebug from Tishamingo. I’m guessing that he is interested in buying some arms for the Dixie mafia

“Pronto”

Harry Arno used to work for Ed Grossi from “Gold Coast”.

Harry Arno lives at the Della Robbia hotel. Labrava lived at the same hotel. Maurice Zola from “Labrava” sold it to Jimmy Cap.

Jimmy Cap is in “Pronto”, “Get Shorty”, “Gold Coast”, and . . .
