The only parlor game Elmore likes to play is “Five Foods.”  He’ll ask: , “If you were on a desert island, what five foods could you live on?”

No coconuts, please.  Also assume you have condiments and water.  (You have a Ronco solar powered portable desalinator, I guess.)  Booze is a food.

What would your five foods be?

What do you think Elmore’s five foods are?

The winner gets a New York Strip Steak cooked by Elmore, autographed in A-1 sauce and freeze dried.  I will throw in a twice-baked.

Bon Appetit.

Mine would be:

1.  Potatoes
2.  Mackerel
3.  Chicken
4.  Eggs
5.  Yebisu beer.

I’ll take a stab at Elmore’s, and say:

1.  Steak
2.  Potatoes (to be boiled).
3.  Some kind of salad leaf.
4.  Chicken
5.  A non-alcoholic beer or wine.

There seem to be several references to chili in Elmore’s books so I would guess that is on his list. Also, hamburgers with muenster cheese and green peppers with A-1 sauce, which was a favorite of Chris Mankowski (Freaky Deaky).

I remember Michael/Martin ordering an egg white omelette with shallots in the film version of GET SHORTY. I don’t recall if it was in the book, though.
