“I’ve read all of his stuff. I loved it. Why he stopped writing, I’ll never know. Maybe he didn’t.” . . .
Leonard, 84, recalled reading some of Salinger’s magazine stories after the war and later all of his books, but he’s unsure if the author’s unique style rubbed off on him.
“It might have had some influence. I haven’t thought about that closely,” he said. “At that time, I was influence by writers like Hemingway, for example.”
