Back in the early 90’s they had El on a CFRB talk show. He was on in the early evening. Back before they got all these politically correct communists taking over at the station. Back when there were a few seasoned guys that really knew how to talk to people. John did you hear him on that program?

That was my introduction to the man. Never had heard of him before. Have since read everything of his except his latest, the westerns and that historic novel from Cuba.

I was amazed that he said that he wrote his books by hand. He had these lined yellow pads specially packaged for him by the case.  Talked about spreading around his inheritance with the kids while they were young enough to enjoy it. I though that was cool.
