I’m talking about the one he will start in the near future.  Not the next one which is Up in Honey’s Room and is done.

I really like the way some characters have shown up in different books. The whole Webster family, from Cuba Libre on. I’d like to see some of the earlier characters, or some connection to them. Stick had a daughter didn’t he, how old would she be now, living in Florida? If it’s historical, I’d like to see more of Bo Catlett.

But really, come on, anything.

The cast in Up in Honey’s Room is tremendous - old and new.  Beyond, are more explorations of character that are fun to the author.  The rest I ain’t saying…

Is he leaning toward revisiting previous characters, or is he thinking about tackling something completely new?

There may be someone from the past. he’s toying with that.  I guarantee one thing: he will go in a different direction from the last one.  He likes to mix them up, it keeps him entertained.

I’d really like to know what happens to Kelly and Delsa after Mr. Paradise. Just a line in passing… that cop moved in with the model…

Elmore, as any author, will be pleased to know that his book keeps right on ticking.  By the time he gets back around to that Kelly and Delsa, the two probably will have either split or split up.

I’ve actually gotten a peek at a draft of the first chapter of the new one. What the hell. If I’m gonna post a taste anywhere, this is the place to do it. It’s about a criminal lawyer. Here’s the first page:

Sweet!

Sounds like something old, yet reads like something new.

... if we’re wishing about unwritten books ... I wish EL would shine a light on religion or priests or Catholicism or spirtuality. Books like Touch and Pagan Babies have a special something.

Elmore has put in time on the spiritual side.  Did you know that he wrote a Jesuit recruiting film in the early 60s?  Juvenal was a missionary he met while making the film.  I think Elmore is going to stick to the fallen angels for a while.

I heard about that in an audio interview he did with Don Swaim. EL talks about Touch quite a bit ... it is in the first of the Swain interviews.
Yeah, and angels are angels, fallen or otherwise.
