They say there are an infinite number of parallel universes out there and we all have our own. and that especially applies to Elmore.

What are the tenets of the Elmore Leonard (Literary) Universe.

For example, if you are an Elmore Leonard character, chances are you smoke.

You DO NOT drink bottled water.

Let’s have some good ones.  They can be actual or implied.

If you are an Elmore Leonard character…your favorite singer is Waylon Jennings, you like blues, jazz, rock ‘n’ roll and country.

And chances are you’re dynamite in bed.

You might look like Harry Dean Stanton or you know someone that looks like Harry Dean Stanton.

You like a sugar in your whiskey.

You are from Kentucky.

You drink Early Times over ice, what they call a bourbon mist.

You can bowl a 186 and feel pretty good about it, then rob a liquor store after.

Characters are often reminded of song lyrics, and may even start singing.

You know movies like nobody’s business, quote lines verbatim, compare scenes to your own life.

You like adult women, not ‘girls.’

Classic.

Golf, golf talk, and golfers bore the shit out of you. You might even make golfers strip down in the country club locker room and rob their saggy asses, make the old guys mix with the wives to show each other shriveled up organs and saggy body parts as you lift wallets and purses. Then laugh later over a joint, remembering looks of fear and humiliation.
