Yesterday Jeffrey Deaver did a signing and a talk at the bookshop I work in. I’ve never read any of his books, but I must say I found him a very pleasant and personable man. As I took him and his people up in the lift to their green room he remarked that we have so many words for toilet in England. I gave him ‘carsey’, which he’d never heard of and wasn’t sure whether to believe.
