With the success of The Tonto Woman and, hopefully, the upcoming Sparks (what’s going on with that one, anyway?), what other short stories do you think would make good movies?
I’d like to see When The Women Come Out to Dance and a bunch of the westerns.
Sparks is in post production. It’s going to have a fantasy landscape. I saw a little Godard in there too. I only saw fragments.
As for shorts, When the Women was supposed to be with Danny DeVito after Be Cool. I don’t know what happen. When the Women was performed as a play in December of 2002 in New York, with Judith Light and Rosie Perez. Elmore and I were there. So was Mike Lupica. It was pretty cool, pretty unique.
I would dig into the Apache stories. Elmore imbues the Apaches with a preternatural quality that I like.
