I can’t believe this book doesn’t get more attention. I just re-read it for the first time in quite awhile, so it was very new to me. Great location (Israel), great characters (heroes, thugs and the sleaziest lawyer EVER, and that’s saying something). And, in my opinion, EL’s best ever ending: “We bring out our dead.” So cinematic! I can’t believe it was never adapted for the big screen.

Thoughts?

THE HUNTED has an ending that is unlike any other contemporary Elmore Leonard book.  Only SPLIT IMAGES comes close.  As far as the westerns, HOMBRE is similar.

Don’t give away the endings!

Out of Sight was on AMC the other night, followed by The Hunted…I thought for a moment, no way! Is this Elmore’s The Hunted? Nope, it was the Tommy Lee Jones/Benicio Del Torro movie from a few years ago.

wow I must say it’s a long time coming
the hunted goes where no other has gone before
if you’re just getting it now it’s always better late than never
the inverse has come to pass and if you brilliant ones ever figure it out
in time we may just solve the biggest problem first
