Elmore’s story, Fire in the Hole, which was called Lawman until Stephen Seagal’s reality TV show, Steven Seagal, Lawman came along, has been renamed JUSTIFIED.

Whaddya think?

I think I threw up in my mouth a little bit. Justified=lame.

Would it have killed them to just change it back to Elmore’s title?

I see you Dawg, and raise you - AWFUL title.

However, you never know what piques one’s interest. Maybe it’ll work. What’s really important is the quality of the show.

Then again, I’m big on titles. A title has to sum up something about the work, not necessarily the theme, more some emotional connection. In the context of the show, after watching it, will “Justified” make sense.

Maybe.

Now, as to Seagal’s Lawman, the change because of that makes no flipping sense. Regardless of what you think of Seagal (there is some quality to some of his work), I don’t see how his show would confuse viewers, specially with Seagal’s name preceding the title. Different network, too.

Still, looking forward to seeing Justified: FX series are usually of high quality.

In interviews EL stresses the importance of the names of his characters.  That said, this should apply to the name of the television series representing his work.  Why not “Raylan Givens, U.S. Marshall”? JUSTIFIED?  Doesn’t the image of Justin Timberlake pop into your head?  I could be wrong, but this title is horrible and a big
mistake.

Doesn’t the image of Justin Timberlake pop into your head? .

I didn’t want to admit this initially but yes, it does.

What concerns me more than the title is the quality of the show and the likelihood of it being good is pretty slim. Still, fingers crossed.

Thanks for the post about Mr. L’s set visit. I like Olyphant’s work - his work in The Perfect Getaway was the bomb.

And has anyone else noticed he has John Wayne’s tight-ass walk down? Don’t think it’s imitation, just natural, maybe the skinny hip, broad shoulders, like he has to walk careful to maintain his balance.

Great stuff, Gregg.  Hardcore fans can’t believe Ernest is showing up.  Wow!  We can dream.

A disappointing title, and yet another reason to loathe Steven Seagal.

Being that EL is producing, couldn’t he have just used “Riding the Rap”?

I’m sure Rylan will use that expression at some point, won’t he?

Just took a look at the new trailer for JUSTIFIED and have to say it looks damn good.  Just goes to show, if these producers can fight the
temptation to fudge the source material they would have something special every time out.

The first scene showing the ending of PRONTO is fantastic - that’s the guy from USUAL SUSPECTS/PULP FICTION, right?
