Good call on Del Torro as Cundo. That’s what popped into my mind too. Or John Leguizamo.

I like Sienna Miller as Dawn.

Elmore likes Ben Kingsley for Cundo.

Kingsley as Cundo would be great if Elmore wants to go that old (65).
And I could see Sienna Miller as Dawn: She has the smarts and looks, and could muster the manipulative deviousness to pull it off.

Kingsley would be great. They could make him look younger. The pony tail would help.

Hopefully Clooney has a change of heart. Any word on whether he’s read the book yet? It just seems like a no brainer. But like Elmore said, he must be having too much fun making classics like…Leatherheads.

Hmmm ... if Clooney stays out, we need a Jack Foley.

May have to go to Maximus and Ben Wade (“3:10 to Yuma”): Russell Crowe.

If he’s not available, Clive Owen comes to mind.

I doubt this movie will get made without Clooney as Foley. I mean, Elmore has said he wrote “Road Dogs” with Clooney in mind. It just wouldn’t feel right, in my opinion.

Out of Sight didn’t do so hot at the box office, but it was huge for Clooney’s career. No Jack Foley=No Ocean’s 11.

I think Elmore said Clooney told him he didn’t want to play a bank robber anymore.

I can’t imagine this not going to film, Dawg, if the money and the will to make the movie are there.

Clooney is good, but he’s not THAT good. Nobody is indispensable. And a million actors would love to be a leading man in an Elmore Leonard novel-based movie, I’d bet. Gregg and Elmore and some producer or director will have to beat them away with a stick. But they will want a box-office draw.

George! Come to your senses! Leatherheads II is not worth it! But don’t wait too long, buddy.

Bottom Line:  Universal won’t make it without Clooney.

Stunning, Gregg. Now that is what you call clout on the part of an actor.
What is the chance Clooney climbs aboard after all?
And if Universal says no, how likely is it anyone else would pick up the project?

Elmore likes Ben Kingsley for Cundo.

And according to his latest interview, Naomi Watts for Dawn.

Naomi Watts ... that’s a nice twist. I like her, I can see her as Dawn.
You see her in King Kong’s hand again being a Diva in commercials running on TV right now (for DirecTV?)? She was just great in “The Painted Veil.”

I have to say I didn’t enjoy Road Dogs very much. I don’t like the character of Dawn at all, I didn’t buy Foley getting together with her and I didn’t find any part of the story interesting apart from the Lou Adams stuff.
In my opinion an unworthy follow-up to Out of Sight.
