Howdy…

I’m wondering: what is everyone’s list of favorite Elmore Leonard stories…at least to the minimum that you’ve read? I’ve only started reading his material since graduating from Penn State U a few years ago. But since then, I’ve completed several of his books already. Here’s my list of fave Elmore works thus far:

1) 52 PICKUP
2) GLITZ
3) RIDING THE RAP
4) CITY PRIMEVAL: HIGH NOON IN DETROIT

Any other takers?

My favourite books by Elmore vary depending on my mood.
However, there are a few that always have a place on my favourites list; novels I can read anytime, regardless of mood.

Swag
Glitz
The Hunted
The Switch
52 Pickup
Pronto

We’ve already done this. It’s boring. You should go back & read all the old threads. Nearly everyone has Swag & Get Shorty in their top 5.

With all due respect; a relatively new member of the forum is making an effort to post. It’s far from boring. There are many threads/topics here, and it’s inevitable that some old ground will be covered. Get Shorty hasn’t been mentioned here (in this thread), but is it in some way bad if it is mentioned? If the same books keep cropping up in people’s favourites lists, doesn’t that tell you something?
And if it’s really that boring, there’s always the “X” in the top right corner of your browser that will release you from the pain.

Aw. And to think I was seriously considering sending my entire collection of George Higgins books all the way to Japan for you.

But seriously though, djones; all joking and ribbing aside - surely we can’t osctrasize people because they mention a topic previously discussed…

All it took was typing “favorite” in the search box provided for everyone’s - especially newbies’ - help above.

Uh oh.
Now I have to go back and see if what I said before still applies.
Put Maximum Bob on my list in the mean time.

Agreed; and he’s made some damn fine posts, too. Analytical beyond my basic capabilities. This is just some ‘back and forth’ to punctuate the monotony! smile

As for your two fingers up to the Swag fans, Scrum; you did mention Stick, so I can’t give you a full 10 points there. smile

did you really think I would let this go without saying something
the funny thing is your all right and all wrong all at the same time
not that I know what it is that I’m talking about yet I stop here
say perhaps we lose focus momentarily, come back to the truth,
the most important thing of all is to remember and hold on
we read for fun and entertainment, to see outside ourselves
truly understand ourselves and provide ourselves with truth
from which to attain the future, we try the past against the need
of the present we can only say what is in our hearts and hope
djones’ evil genius will allow him to visit upon us our just desert
while all the while ribbing us for our frailties.
Jade beware the Ides of March wherein all manner of humanity
presents itself to you willy nilly with some sob story beneath you
What leap of faith is required to bring the transitions desired most
Acceptance of this simple proposition begins our journey to the stars

Son,
You had me until

from which to attain the future

But then you finished strong so you get a pass.
10 points for Griffindor.
