Be Cool was an awful movie. They put that comic, Cedric the Entertainer, in one of the roles, and the director kept cutting away to everyone laughing. If they’d just film the books, they’d be better off.”

Makes it sound so simple, doesn’t it?

It may all be the hooptedoodle, though. Movies seem to mostly be hootedoodle, directors can’t seem to stop themselves. Even the ones we like, guys like Scorsese (sp? sorry) and Tarantino fill their movies with stuff that breaks almost all of Elmore’s “rules,” especially the drawing attention to the “writer” with all those director tricks and hootedoodle. Often, in the movies, we like that stuff.
