I want to take the high road here
return to the topic of the thread
Miraculous osmosis
the true essence of the story and how the movie tells it
a dance of love
all the characters are driven by it
a dance of passion
cold calculating crass careless
a dance of desire
time is suspended in it
space warps to accept it
family values defended
the wild side rendered
balanced by two women
scales by one

Anything new to report on this film?

For the record, I’m against the 1974 setting. I think that Robin, Skip and even Chris are all clearly at that point in their lives (around 40), where this story makes the most sense. If you keep them at that age, then all of a sudden they’re born in the mid ‘30s, which really makes them a bit too old to have been a part of the ‘60s movement. I mean, it’s a period piece no matter what, so why pick 1974 as opposed to 1987? It just doesn’t make any sense to me.

Gene Wilder as Skip.
Think about it.
If he was a bit younger now…

Great news!

By Jay A. Fernandez

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Writer-director Charlie Matthau is taking a shot at Elmore Leonard.

Matthau has written a screenplay inspired by Leonard’s 1988 novel “Freaky Deaky” and will direct an adaptation of it. The novel involves a bunch of former 1960s radicals and their shenanigans in 1974 Los Angeles. Production is scheduled to begin in January.

“I am the luckiest director in the world to be able to bring Elmore Leonard’s favorite and finest novel to the screen,” said Matthau, son of the late Oscar-winning actor Walter Matthau.

Leonard’s works have been spun into such films as “Out of Sight,” “3:10 to Yuma,” “Get Shorty,” “Jackie Brown” and “The Big Bounce.”
