As for Elmore, he likes interesting characters, and takes them where he finds them.
But he repeatedly shows through his characters like Raylan that the abusive, destructive knuckleheads inevatibaly get what they have earned and almost always get caught, or plugged. Because they are too stupid, self-absorbed, undisciplined to avoid incriminating mistakes.
Those paying attention get that.
