Second draft? Hell No!

A lot of people ask if Elmore writes a second draft or even additional drafts after that. The answer is hell no! He rewrites as he goes along, partly because he makes it up as he goes along. And when he writes, “The End” he’s finished. Sure, he’ll go over it and add little things here and there but he isn’t rewriting or rethinking the novel.
But it doesn’t get any easier.
Just today, working on Djibouti he told me how he spent the last two days trying to get the dialogue right between two two women: Dara and an official at the U.S. Embassy in Djibouti. “It just wasn’t working, it was just information,” he said. Today he made the breakthrough and the gals are talking. So he can move on…
