After the success of Hombre, a big Hollywood movie starring Paul Newman, Elmore wrote and adapted his new book, The Moonshine War. The experience was mixed. But Elmore was in demand as a screenwriter. In quick succession, he wrote three movies for the Hollywood “A” list.
